The sixteenth Principal of HMI, Colonel Rajneesh Joshi is a distinguished military officer and adventurer whose career exemplifies outstanding leadership and dedication. An alumnus of Officer’s Training Academy, Chennai was commissioned into 13 Garhwal Rifles in March 2005. His exemplary service includes commanding a battalion at the Line of Control, where he demonstrated valour and resilience in some of the most challenging terrains. Additionally, he has held key staff and instructional appointments, playing a pivotal role in the training and professional development of army personnel.
Colonel Rajneesh Joshi has the unique distinction of qualification in Mountaineering and Skiing Course from India, Nepal and France. A passionate adventurer, Colonel Joshi has scaled more than 30 peaks across India and abroad, including Mt. Nun (7135m), Mt. Kun (7077m), Mt Abi Gamin (7355M) and Mt. Kilimanjaro (5895m). His remarkable feats in mountaineering have earned him accolades from the World Book of Records, Asia Book of Records, and India Book of Records. An expert skier, he has participated in the National Winter Games and engaged in extensive skiing in India and France. His adventurous endeavours further include trekking, car rallies, and skydiving, highlighting his relentless pursuit of challenges and excellence. His achievements have been widely recognized, solidifying his reputation as a multifaceted and accomplished individual.
Beyond his military and adventurous accomplishments, Colonel Joshi is an accomplished writer and photographer. A member of the Photographic Society of India, his photographic works has been featured in prestigious national and international exhibitions. In 2023, he authored “Jatti Valley: A Utopia of Blossoms,” a testament to his love for nature and exploration.
